Tuna is original from the northeast of the country, where he grew up in close relationship with nature and craftwork. In order to keep that relationship within the brand, we were strongly inspired by ancient methods of craftsmanship art and the way they used to be documented. Using heavy and strongly stacked typography that plays along with a series of symbols used to authenticate his work, we were able to create a playful rhythm between pieces. The traditional feeling contrasts with the contemporary use of typography to meet the balance between the roughness of the process and its smooth and clean finishes. The sword symbol is a monogram for Paulo Tuna and a representation of a traditional Portuguese black blade used by sailors and soldiers in the 15th century during the maritime expeditions.
